Harris County, Texas – Deputy Jimmy Drummond is in big trouble after he was caught on tape brutalizing an entire family during a routine traffic stop. Harris County investigators revealed a videotape of officer Drummond brutally beating a son, father and mother on camera. The officer will be charged with official oppression and will appear in court this Friday.

A north Houston deputy constable caught on video repeatedly kicking a man during an ugly traffic stop has a history of excessive violence.

In the recently released dashcam video of the 2011 incident, Harris County deputy constable Jimmy Drummond can be seen kicking David Braxton Scherz, Jr., who had just arrived home when he was confronted by authorities.

Other members of Scherz's family were also harassed by constables after coming to their relative's aid, including his mother, the video shows.

Drummond was charged late Monday night with official oppression, a misdemeanor. The deputy constable has a history of excessive force which his superiors are aware of, said civil rights lawyer Randall Kallinen, the lawyer representing the family.

The statute of limitations will likely prevent future charges against any other officers.

All five members of the Scherz family were initially charged, but those charges were eventually dropped. They are pursuing civil action against the deputies.

Harris County law enforcement officials could not immediately respond to comment.
