The British government has held an emergency response meeting, known as a Cobra meeting, on weather as more rain and strong storms hit southwest England, Wales, and Scotland.
The meeting, which was held on Saturday, heard that severe storms and high winds will batter parts of the UK, increasing the risk of further flooding and piling more pressure on already-stretched emergency services.
Moreover, up to 40mm of rain is expected in southwest England and Wales on Monday morning. According to reports, most areas will have between 15mm and 30mm of rain while areas of Scotland could face between 50mm and 60mm.
Gale-force winds will also hit Wales, southwest and southern England, with the possibility of gusts of up to 80 miles per hour across the Isles of Scilly, west Cornwall and west Wales.
