Steve,
I work for a very large merchant services provider and got a notice in my
email last night regarding "Emergency maintenance on EBT applications"
affecting multiple states. I will be happy to send you the communication
directly. In effect, it stated that from 22:00 ET on 10/24/2013 until
06:30 ET on 10/25/13, ACS will be performing emergency maintenance on their
EBT applications. The following states could have a 1-5 minute
interruption in service:
Beginning 22:00 ET the applications for: (IA, IL, GA, VA, OH, MA, MD, ME,
MI, NJ) will be brought down and back up.
Beginning 23:00 ET the applications for: (AL, LA, MS, OK) will be brought
down and back up.
Beginning 05:00 ET the application for the state of PA will be brought down
and back up.
Beginning at 06:00 ET the application for the state of CA will be brought
down and back up.
**In this memo, ACS is an acronym for Authorization Capture System which
accepts transactions taking place at a Point-of-Sale by which an auth code
is generated; it looks very suspicious to me that this is taking place
after the recent so-called glitch, and further that there is ongoing talk
of a reduction beginning on Nov. 1st. My thoughts are that this is test
planning in action for the back-end systems... May God bless you Steve for
your work and may His Mercy and ever loving kindness be with us in the dark
days ahead...
