Just Released! Technological Terminators of the World - Conditioning Us For the Big Kill

National Geographic Emerging Explorer and roboticist Chad Jenkins explores how to get robots out of the lab and into the real world performing useful and important work—whether that be in the home, outer space, or war-torn battlefields. In his lab at Penn, Vijay Kumar and his team build flying quadrotors, small, agile robots that swarm, sense each other, and form ad hoc teams -- for construction, surveying disasters and far more. The PETMAN robot was developed by Boston Dynamics with funding from the DoD CBD program. It is used to test the performance of protective clothing designed for hazardous environments.
