There is some risk of getting Lyme disease from a tick bite, but there may be a bigger risk of getting Lyme disease in the bedroom.


A new study shows that Lyme disease can be sexually transmitted. Lyme disease carried by ticks that spread Borrelia burgdorferi, which is corkscrew- shaped bacteria or spirochete Lyme disease is becoming much more common with over 300,000 new cases each year in the United States alone. Lyme disease almost twice as widespread as breast cancer and is 6 times more common than HIV/AIDS. According to new studies: "The presence of the Lyme spirochete in genital secretions and identical strains in married couples strongly suggests that sexual transmission of the disease occurs," per Dr. Mayne.
