FEMA Region Three Alert! Chemical Spill--West Virginia’s Freedom Industries Suffers "Another" Chemical Spill! (Video)

A second chemical spill in less than one month hits West Virginia, FEMA region three. It is the the same crude MCHM chemical that leaked from the company’s tank farm into the Elk River this past January 9. Let's hope that they are able to better control this one and that the people don't have to go through chaos again, as they did only a short time ago!

According to RT News:

Weeks after spilling about 10,000 gallons of chemicals into West Virginia's Elk River, chemical maker Freedom Industries reported another toxic leak Thursday at their facility in Charleston. Yet none of the material has reached the river, officials said.

Contractors for Freedom Industries hit an underground pipe with an excavator Thursday night, unleashing water and the same crude MCHM chemical that leaked from the company’s tank farm into the Elk River on Jan. 9. The earlier incident ultimately spoiled drinking water for around 300,000 nearby residents.

An undetermined amount of material spilled into a cutoff trench on Thursday, staying away from the river, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection said. Though just as an earlier spill weeks ago, the leak released a black-licorice odor into the air.

U.S. Failure Created 'Nightmare' Threat To Airliners?

Warning by former CIA chief Petraeus only part of story

WND

AARON KLEIN

TEL AVIV – At a conference here this week, former CIA Director David Petraeus warned of a “nightmare” scenario in which missile proliferation could provide terrorists the capability to shoot down a civilian airliner.

Unmentioned by Petraeus is that the largest terrorist looting of Man-Portable-Air-Defense-Systems, or MANPADS, took place immediately after the U.S.-NATO military campaign that helped to end Moammar Gadhafi’s rule in Libya.

Gadhafi had hoarded Africa’s biggest known reserve of MANPADS, with his stock said to number between 15,000 and 20,000. Many of the missiles were stolen by militias fighting in Libya, including those backed by the U.S. their anti-Gadhafi efforts.

Petraeus was speaking at the annual conference of the Institute for National Security Studies, a think-tank at Tel Aviv University.

He referred to a video posted on YouTube by the Sinai-based Ansar Jerusalem jihadist group, which claimed it had fired a surface-to-air missile at an Egyptian helicopter.

Aaron Klein’s “Impeachable Offenses: The Case to Remove Barack Obama from Office” is available, autographed, at WND’s Superstore

“I mean, shooting down a helicopter with an apparent shoulder-fired missile is a big deal,” Petraeus said.

“As you know, that was always our worst nightmare, that a civilian airliner would be shot down by one. Which is why we were so concerned when they moved around,” he said.

The MANPADS didn’t just move around. Thousands were looted when Gadhafi’s reserves were unprotected following the NATO campaign there in 2011.

Is Your Money Safe at Bank of America [Or Any Big Bank]? An Economist Says ‘NO’ and Withdraws His $1 Million

by Terry Burnham, PBS:

Last week I had over $1,000,000 in a checking account at Bank of America. Next week, I will have $10,000. Why am I getting in line to take my money out of Bank of America? Because of Ben Bernanke and Janet Yellen, who officially begins her term as chairwoman on Feb. 1.

Before I explain, let me disclose that I have been a stopped clock of criticism of the Federal Reserve for half a decade. That’s because I believe that when the Fed intervenes in markets, it has two effects — both negative. First, it decreases overall wealth by distorting markets and causing bad investment decisions. Second, the members of the Fed become reverse Robin Hoods as they take from the poor (and unsophisticated) investors and give to the rich (and politically connected). These effects have been noticed; a Gallup poll taken in the last few days reports that only the richest Americans support the Fed.

Why do I risk starting a run on Bank of America by withdrawing my money and presuming that many fellow depositors will read this and rush to withdraw too?

Top PGA Tour temper tantrums: Rory McIlroy, Pat Perez, Tom Bolt, Sergio Garcia

Scott McCormick comes from a long line of mediocre – yet devoted – golfers. He lives in Arizona with his wife Alexis and their two dogs. When not trying to improve his short game on an office putting machine or following his favorite PGA tour pros on Twitter, he works as an freelance writer for GolfNow, specializing in San Diego Golf and Phoenix Golf.

When Tiger Woods demonstrated some poor golf etiquette at this year’s Masters Tournament, the world was watching closely. From uttering unmistakable four-letter words to kicking his nine-iron, any behavior by Tiger Woods that could be deemed juvenile was analyzed to death.

As any old duffer knows, golf can be a frustrating game. For most of us, we have the good fortune to not have our worst moments on the links be recorded for posterity, but not having cameras in his face constantly didn’t stop PGA Tour pioneer Tommy Bolt from earning the nickname “Tommy Terrible” for his rage-induce golf antics during his career that started in 1946.

Bolt became famous for his temper tantrums; throwing clubs, berating caddies and castigating writers and fans were par for the course for Terrible Tom Bolt.

He did put some restraints on his hysterics, however. There were limits to what even a cannon as loose as his would do.

“Never break your driver and your putter in the same round,” he advised.

Sage advice, Tom.

Well, the era of incessant cameras and over-the-top analysis has probably made golfers cut from Tommy’s cloth an extinct breed, but there still have been a number of high-profile outbursts during major PGA events in recent years.

In addition to Bolt and Woods, here are three other golfers who have had memorable temper tantrums on the PGA Tour:

Pat Perez

If you aren’t going to be remembered for your golfing prowess, you may as well be remembered for being a world-class jerk, right? Well, that logic doesn’t really gibe for me, but for Pat Perez, it must make perfect sense.

Perez isn’t a totally non-descript golfer; he does have a win on the PGA tour and had a second-place finish at Pebble Beach, which was made memorable when he melted down on the back nine to concede the victory, and infamously broke a club over his leg in the process.

But for the most part, if Pat Perez is known by anyone, it is because he was a penchant for throwing childish hissy fits whenever something goes wrong for him on the course, which is seemingly often.

In 2011’s Reno-Tahoe Open, Perez battled down the stretch for the tournament title, only to miss a makeable putt on 18 that kept him one stroke off the leader, Scott Piercy, who had yet to tee off on the final hole. When Piercy completed the round with a par that gave him the victory, Perez, who had been watching the procedures from near the green with a scowl on his face, erupted into a sulky rage. Perez stormed off the course, and slammed his water bottle down near the feet of two young boys, one of whom offered Perez another bottle of water. Rather than take up the young lad’s generous offer, Perez instead ripped off his golf glove and slammed it into the ground.

All of this occurred under the watchful eye of the Golf Channel’s live camera.

Rory McIlroy

The world’s #1 ranked player, Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, is not immune to a childish outburst on the golf course. After his resounding victory at the PGA Championship at Kiawah, South Carolina in early August, McIlroy once again became the toast of the golfing world, regaining his lofty perch atop the World Golf Rankings, a place he solidified with another victory at the Deutsche Bank Open over Labor Day Weekend.

But only a few short months before, he had many in the golfing establishment shaking their heads, as he committed a golfing faux pas generally reserved for your weekend duffer after a 12-pack of Schlitz.

In May, McIlroy teed up for the BMW PGA Championship, part of the European Tour that takes place at the historic Wentworth Club outside London. He started off well, sitting at two under par after seven holes. But trouble started for him on the 8th, where he bogeyed. And he followed that up with similar disappointments on 9, 10, and 11.

Then on 12, it got ugly. He shanked his first shot out of bounds, and then his provisional ball landed in the sand. As his ball was finding the bunker, his iron was going airborne, as a frustrated McIlroy hurled his club. He would end up failing to make the cut at the tournament and was slapped with a modest fine for his outburst.

Sergio Garcia

Sergio Garcia was a rising star in the golf world in 1999, having earned his first PGA Tour win in only his sixth start and rising to the level of international superstardom after battling toe-to-toe with Tiger Woods for the PGA Championship (before eventually finishing second).

But later that year, Garcia had a moment that he’d just as soon forget in the 1999 World Match-Play Championship at Wentworth.

Garcia was already trailing in the match to South Africa’s Retief Goosen, and having deposited several balls into the trees already, he was in no mood to watch his tee shot on the 15th beeline towards the shrubbery.

While most golfers in a fit of rage show their displeasure with their clubs, Garcia has always marched to a different beat, and his now-infamous temper tantrum was no different, as he took off his shoe and chucked it into the gallery. When the shoe was promptly returned to him, Garcia wasn’t much interested in putting it back into proper use. Instead, he reared back and kicked it, and capped his hissy fit by angrily tossing his club at his caddy.

Obama Pulls Executive Privelege On Breitbart Lawyers To Hide Truth In Sherrod Lawsuit

Excerpted from Politico: A dispute over executive privilege appears to be looming in connection with fired Agriculture Department employee Shirley Sherrod’s lawsuit against late conservative journalist Andrew Breitbart.

In a letter filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Washington, a lawyer involved in the case said the Justice Department had advised that it will assert executive privilege to block disclosure of information subpoenaed in the case from USDA and the White House.

“[T]he Government confirmed this week that it intends to assert ‘executive privilege’ and ‘deliberative process privilege’ objections as purported grounds for withholding at least some documents and information from both the USDA and the EOP [Executive Office of the President],” wrote Mark Bailen, an attorney for Breitbart employee Larry O’Connor.

However, a Justice Department spokesperson said Thursday afternoon that the government had not reached any conclusions about how to respond to subpoenas served in connection with the case.

“Contrary to what the letter asserts, the department has not made any decisions about what privileges to assert in this ongoing matter,” the spokesperson said.

U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon said at a status hearing on the lawsuit last month that he was fearful that a White House privilege assertion might bog down the case.

“One of my biggest concerns, of course, would be if we found ourselves in a situation where I had to now have litigated in front of me claims of executive privilege that would in some way, you know, slow everything down to a halt,” Leon said, after private lawyers involved in the case described their interaction with the government. “I am really happy to hear no one is rattling any swords of that kind and maybe the reason why is because there isn’t any of that kind to deal with which would be great. I am not looking for more litigation. I have plenty to do around here.”

Leon also suggested he might look skeptically on such a claim in a case where political sensitivities, rather than national security concerns, were at stake. “I am not sure the D.C. Circuit has ever recognized that as a sufficient basis for an executive privilege claim, political embarrassment, to spare the White House political embarrassment,” he said.

Sherrod was forced to resign as a state rural development director for USDA in 2010 after Breitbart posted video clips online from a speech she gave earlier in the year at an NAACP event. The videos appeared to suggest that Sherrod was a racist. Within a matter of hours, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack dismissed her, acting in consultation with the White House. Keep reading

My younger brother and I called him ‘the old lizard’ (on account of his reptilian resemblance — and to irk our mother, his partner at the time). To his enemies, he was a crackpot, fraud, and a cheat. And to his patients, and many of his friends, he was a source of support, an open listener, a sage and protector.

Dr John E Mack was many things to many people. A Harvard-trained psychiatrist, tenured professor, and one of the founders of the Cambridge Hospital Department of Psychiatry (a teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard University), John held an impressive command and was respected in his field. After an early career spent working on issues of child development and identity formation, he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1977 for his psychoanalytic biography of Lawrence of Arabia, entitled A Prince of Our Disorder (1976). Then, in the late 1980s, John put his reputation on the line when he started investigating the phenomenon of alien abduction.

It all started innocently enough. He began holding sessions with patients or ‘experiencers’ (as they’re called) who believed they’d been abducted. He ran hypnotic regressions from our home, and he gradually came to furnish enough evidence for a book, Abduction: Human Encounters with Aliens (1994). This was followed in 1999 by Passport to the Cosmos: Human Transformation and Alien Encounters. His standard line with the outside world was (as given to the BBC): ‘I would never say, yes, there are aliens taking people. [But] I would say there is a compelling powerful phenomenon here that I can’t account for in any other way, that’s mysterious… I can’t know what it is but it seems to me that it invites a deeper, further inquiry.’

In the privacy of our home, where he was a regular presence, John was bolder in his claims. Aliens were real — it was just that their existence threatened the dominant logic of our worldview. John attributed society’s failure to account for the abduction experience as a cultural failing. Alien abductees weren’t deranged or mentally ill — we just didn’t have a way of interpreting and understanding what they’d been through. Rather than label these peoples’ experiences as a new disorder or syndrome, John argued that we had to probe into and change our perception of reality to account for this phenomena. The subtext: we had to allow for the existence of aliens.

For more than a decade, from the time I was eight until I was of legal age, I was witness to these debates and to the politics surrounding John’s ‘coming out’ in support of abduction phenomena. My mother, an anthropologist by training, was John’s primary research assistant. They bought a house together in Cambridge, Massachusetts and my brother and I visited them once a month and during school holidays. The rest of the time we lived with my father and stepmother in Arlington, Virginia.

Like many of his colleagues, I viewed John with a mixture of scepticism and intrigue. Part of my scepticism can be put down to the fact that he was dating my mom; but a good fraction of it owed to my sense of reality being overturned by the postulation of ‘greys’ — a particular manifestation of extraterrestrials, known for their large heads, huge almond eyes, and shortened, pretty much featureless bodies.

At eight, and still learning to distinguish between fantasy and reality, the imposition of adults who believed in aliens was confusing and anxiety-provoking, but adventurous and thrilling too. I was fairly sure that Santa Claus wasn’t real. But I wouldn’t have bet my life on it. My stuffed animals and toys had only just lost that animistic quality — becoming mere playthings, instruments of the imagination, as opposed to real creatures with essences all their own. As for aliens, I couldn’t be sure. Flying on airplanes between my parents’ houses I’d sometimes be on the lookout for a hovering metallic orb.

It was 1992 when John entered our lives. Bill Clinton was president, and Kurt Cobain dominated the airwaves. It was the end of the Cold War stand-off, and the political scientist Francis Fukuyama had just published his book The End of History and the Last Man, where he wishfully predicted that human evolution had come to an end with the triumph of Western liberal democracy. Everything was smooth sailing. We no longer had the threat of communists, but we didn’t yet have the threat of terrorists. In need of a symbolic enemy, aliens personified an important ‘other’ — a dystopian warning to our Western culture’s all too eager triumphalism.

On television, the paranormal soon paraded around on shows such as Roswell and The X-Files, which explored extraterrestrial phenomena in the shadow of government cover-ups and conspiracy. Flip channels and you might have caught Arthur C Clarke’s equally other-worldly 26-part series Mysterious Universe . It’s no wonder that the 1990s saw a rush of alien appearances in the popular imagination. The impending millennium brought with it the arrival of a future that had always been distant. As the political scientist Jodi Dean, author of Aliens in America (1998), articulated at the time, the appearance of aliens corresponds to our ‘anxieties over technological development and our growing consciousness of ourselves as a planet and our fears for the future at the millennium’.

There is some truth here. When I asked my mom and John growing up what the aliens intended (subtext: ‘Do they come in peace or should I be really scared?’), they said that many experiences felt that aliens communicated an environmental message about the urgency of saving the planet.

At the same time, many of the abductees that John interviewed attested to the technological superiority of the alien race. I was told stories about patients who experienced aliens that could pass through walls, were able to communicate with extrasensory perception (ESP) and mind-reading, and perform medical experiments on humans without invasive surgery. In this light, aliens provided an outlet for all our fears of technological domination. To have an experience of aliens was to realise that the human race might not represent the pinnacle of evolution, that we were perhaps inferior to extraterrestrial life.

But as a kid largely ignorant of grander sociological forces, aliens were only one thing: scary. They had large black eyes and androgynous forms. And they were real — like ghosts and witches and monsters. In daylight, I was sceptical (the good little rationalist), but night-time brought with it a tide of magical thinking. I used to lie in bed and worry that maybe I would be abducted. I would even make supplicating promises of better behaviour in the hope of bartering with these outsiders — ‘I’ll be good, just leave me alone.’ In my secular progressive household, aliens offered a moral disciplining authority, an invisible spectator to police my actions.

After many years elapsed without any sign of extraterrestrial visitation, I began to feel ignored. My fears turned to pangs of dejection: ‘Wasn’t I special?’ ‘Shouldn’t I be a chosen ambassador for the human race?’ Or even: ‘If the aliens were really out to create a master race (as I overheard), didn’t they want my DNA?’

Mark's Earlier Video from Baker's Green Acres

http://b4in.us/1jSpr1P

(NaturalNews) A Michigan farmer says he could be facing an armed raid by government agents soon, following a lengthy disagreement with state Department of Natural Resources officials over his refusal to obey an order to kill his feral pigs.

Mark Baker, owner of Baker's Green Acres, told Natural News in an interview that he was informed recently by a former business associate that local state and federal agriculture officials have been forbidden from contacting him because he is potentially dangerous.

In particular, he said, one USDA field agent whom the associate identified as Tom Gallagher, allegedly labeled Baker, a disabled U.S. Air Force veteran, as a "gun-wielding lunatic" and said agency supervisors have made it clear that only "armed DNR [Department of Natural Resources] agents" are allowed to visit Baker's property.

"[H]e stated vehemently that he and any other MDARD [Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development] employee[s] were expressly forbidden from visiting or in any way contacting Mark Baker or Baker's Green Acres," Baker said in a letter to the Missaukee County Sheriff's Department, informing law enforcement officials of the incident. "This was an order that 'came down from the top.' He also stated that only 'armed DNR agents' would visit our farm and that [I] was portrayed as a 'gun-wielding lunatic.'"

"I consider this to be a threat to me and my family," Baker, who retired from the Air Force, wrote.

Heavy fines and and a longstanding dispute

Baker's troubles with state and federal officials began in 2012 when the Michigan Department of Natural Resources issued new guidance on what constitutes feral - wild - pigs. A December 2011 "Declaratory Ruling" issued by the MDNR listed nine traits which redefined Baker's pigs - and thousands of others across the state that were being raised by other farmers - as "invasive species," which, as such, must be destroyed.

But Baker says he and other family farmers in the state have been raising the same species of pigs for decades; they believe that the Declaratory Ruling, which was issued following a petition by the Michigan Animal Farmers Association, was arbitrary and made in deference to the conventional pork industry as a way to destroy competition.

Baker has thus far defied the order, drawing a $700,000 fine and, apparently, the ire of agriculture officials. He says he is scheduled to take the issue to court in March, where he is confident that he will be vindicated.

In the meantime, however, he believes that Gallagher's comments are an indication that the "threat level is increasing," and he says he fears that a further escalation of tensions - already thick in the area - is taking place, albeit needlessly.

"I spoke to (Missaukee County Sheriff James) Bosscher a couple of summers ago when all of this started," Baker told Natural News. "He wasn't interested."

"He can diffuse all of this," Baker continued, "but he refuses to do so."

No word from the sheriff's department

Baker said his recent letter to the sheriff's department was accompanied by a formal police report.

"While there is no specific time frame, the fact that the only contact I would have from the state government would be at the business end of a loaded weapon held by someone who's been led to believe I'm out to hurt him/her (that's what 'gun wielding lunatics' do) is disconcerting," the letter said. "I have never expressed sentiments of bodily harm towards any government agent. The government, however, has a track record of painting a picture of a suspect and then acting on their suppositions with no regard for the facts. Often they disregard local law enforcement, who may have a true knowledge of a 'suspect' in their pursuit of their goal. This is disturbing and I take it very seriously."

He continued:

I am requesting written assurance that myself and my family are safe from an unannounced, SWAT team style raid. We have no intention of engaging the DNR on such a physical threat level. ... We have chosen a civil route to resolve this conflict and are seeking written assurance that they have confirmed an equally civil approach to you. I am also requesting written confirmation or denial of the no contact orders.

Thus far, he says, he has received no such assurances - no word at all, in fact - from the sheriff's department.

Nevertheless, he's looking forward to settling the matter - in court - and soon. "They've just about put me out of business," he says.

Caffeine Use Disorder: This Widespread Health Problem Needs More Attention

"I'm a zombie without my morning coffee." "My blood type is Diet Coke." "Caffeine isn't a drug, it's a vitamin." Most people make jokes like these about needing a daily boost from their favorite caffeinated beverage—whether first thing in the morning or to prevent the after-lunch slump.

Credit: Wikipedia

But a recent study coauthored by American University psychology professor Laura Juliano indicates that more people are dependent on caffeine to the point that they suffer withdrawal symptoms and are unable to reduce caffeine consumption even if they have another condition that may be impacted by caffeine—such as a pregnancy, a heart condition, or a bleeding disorder.

These symptoms combined are a condition called "Caffeine Use Disorder." And according to the study Juliano coauthored, even though caffeine is the most commonly used drug in the world—and is found in everything from coffee, tea, and soda, to OTC pain relievers, chocolate, and now a whole host of food and beverage products branded with some form of the word "energy"—health professionals have been slow to characterize problematic caffeine use and acknowledge that some cases may call for treatment.

"The negative effects of caffeine are often not recognized as such because it is a socially acceptable and widely consumed drug that is well integrated into our customs and routines," Juliano said. "And while many people can consume caffeine without harm, for some it produces negative effects, physical dependence, interferes with daily functioning, and can be difficult to give up, which are signs of problematic use."

"Caffeine Use Disorder: A Comprehensive Review and Research Agenda," which Juliano coauthored with Steven Meredith and Roland Griffiths of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and John Hughes from the University of Vermont, published last fall in the Journal of Caffeine Research.

Grounds for More Research

The study summarizes the results of previously published caffeine research to present the biological evidence for caffeine dependence, data that shows how widespread dependence is, and the significant physical and psychological symptoms experienced by habitual caffeine users. Juliano and her coauthors also address the diagnostic criteria for Caffeine Use Disorder and outline an agenda to help direct future caffeine dependence research.

In so far as heeding the call for more research, the scientific community is beginning to wake up and smell the coffee. Last spring, the American Psychiatric Association officially recognized Caffeine Use Disorder as a health concern in need of additional research in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders—the standard classification of mental disorders, now in its fifth edition (DSM-5), used by mental health professionals in the United States.

"There is misconception among professionals and lay people alike that caffeine is not difficult to give up. However, in population-based studies, more than 50 percent of regular caffeine consumers report that they have had difficulty quitting or reducing caffeine use," said Juliano, who served as an appointed advisor to the DSM-5 Substance Use Disorders work group and helped outline the symptoms for the Caffeine Use Disorder inclusion.

"Furthermore, genetics research may help us to better understand the effects of caffeine on health and pregnancy as well as individual differences in caffeine consumption and sensitivity," she added.

A Lack of Labelling

Based on current research, Juliano advises that healthy adults should limit caffeine consumption to no more than 400 mg per day—the equivalent of about two to three 8-oz cups of coffee. Pregnant women should consume less than 200 mg per day and people who regularly experience anxiety or insomnia—as well as those with high blood pressure, heart problems, or urinary incontinence—should also limit caffeine.

But limiting one's caffeine intake is often easier said than done as most people don't know how much caffeine they consume daily.

"At this time, manufacturers are not required to label caffeine amounts and some products such as energy drinks do not have regulated limits on caffeine," Juliano said, adding that if this changed, people could perhaps better limit their consumption and ideally, avoid caffeine's possible negative effects.

But in a nation where a stop at Starbucks is a daily ritual for many people, is there really a market for caffeine cessation? Juliano says yes.

"Through our research, we have observed that people who have been unable to quit or cut back on caffeine on their own would be interested in receiving formal treatment—similar to the outside assistance people can turn to if they want to quit smoking or tobacco use."

Poor Chicago Blacks To Obama: “Just Quit”

from Western Journalism:

Shortly after Tuesday night’s State of the Union address by the President, some Black Chicago Activists were asked their perspective and feedback on what Obama had to say. “Mr. President, we’d probably be better off if you called off your presidency off right now. Just quit. Because if this is what you call helping us, then stop helping us.”

Obama To Americans: You Don’t Deserve To Be Free

Obama_Portrait_2006 President Obama’s Kansas speech is a remarkable document. In calling for more government controls, more taxation, more collectivism, he has two paragraphs that give the show away. Take a look at them.

there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let’s respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. “The market will take care of everything,” they tell us. If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes–especially for the wealthy–our economy will grow stronger. Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers. But if the winners do really well, then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle down to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn’t trickle down, well, that’s the price of liberty.

Now, it’s a simple theory. And we have to admit, it’s one that speaks to our rugged individualism and our healthy skepticism of too much government. That’s in America’s DNA. And that theory fits well on a bumper sticker. (Laughter.) But here’s the problem: It doesn’t work. It has never worked. (Applause.) It didn’t work when it was tried in the decade before the Great Depression. It’s not what led to the incredible postwar booms of the ’50s and ’60s. And it didn’t work when we tried it during the last decade. (Applause.) I mean, understand, it’s not as if we haven’t tried this theory.

Though not in Washington, I’m in that “certain crowd” that has been saying for decades that the market will take care of everything. It’s not really a crowd, it’s a tiny group of radicals–radicals for capitalism, in Ayn Rand’s well-turned phrase.

The only thing that the market doesn’t take care of is anti-market acts: acts that initiate physical force. That’s why we need government: to wield retaliatory force to defend individual rights.

Radicals for capitalism would, as the Declaration of Independence says, use government only “to secure these rights”–the rights to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. (Yes, I added “property” in there–property rights are inseparable from the other three.)

That’s the political philosophy on which Obama is trying to hang the blame for the recent financial crisis and every other social ill. But ask yourself, are we few radical capitalists in charge? Have radical capitalists been in charge at any time in the last, oh, say 100 years?

I pick 100 years deliberately, because it was exactly 100 years ago that a gigantic anti-capitalist measure was put into effect: the Federal Reserve System. For 100 years, government, not the free market, has controlled money and banking. How’s that worked out? How’s the value of the dollar held up since 1913? Is it worth one-fiftieth of its value then or only one-one-hundredth? You be the judge. How did the dollar hold up over the 100 years before this government take-over of money and banking? It actually gained slightly in value.

Laissez-faire hasn’t existed since the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890. That was the first of a plethora of government crimes against the free market.

Radical capitalists are just beginning to have a slight effect on the Right wing. The overwhelming majority on the Right are eclectic. Which is a nice way of saying inconsistent.

The typical Republican would never, ever say “the market will take care of everything.” He’d say, “the market will take care of most things, and for the other things, we need the regulatory-welfare state.”

They are for individualism–except when they are against it. They are against free markets and individualism not only when they agree with the Left that we must have antitrust laws and the Federal Reserve, but also when they demand immigration controls, government schools, regulatory agencies, Medicare, laws prohibiting abortion, Social Security, “public works” projects, the “social safety net,” laws against insider trading, banking regulation, and the whole system of fiat money.

Obama blames economic woes, some real some manufactured (“inequality”) on a philosophy and policy that was abandoned a century ago. What doesn’t exist is what he says didn’t work.

Obama absurdly suggests that timid, half-hearted, compromisers, like George W. Bush, installed laissez-faire capitalism–on the grounds that they tinkered with one or two regulations (Glass-Steagall) and marginal tax rates–while blanking out the fact that under the Bush administration, government spending ballooned, growing much faster than under Clinton, and 50,000 new regulations were added to the Federal Register.

The philosophy of individualism and the politics of laissez-faire would mean government spending of about one-tenth its present level. It would also mean an end to all regulatory agencies: no SEC, FDA, NLRB, FAA, OSHA, EPA, FTC, ATF, CFTC, FHA, FCC–to name just some of the better known of the 430 agencies listed in the federal register.

Even you, dear reader, are probably wondering how on earth anyone could challenge things like Social Security, government schools, and the FDA. But that’s not the point. The point is: these statist, anti-capitalist programs exist and have existed for about a century. The point is: Obama is pretending that the Progressive Era, the New Deal, and the Great Society were repealed, so that he can blame the financial crisis on capitalism. He’s pretending that George Bush was George Washington. We radical capitalists say that it was the regulatory-welfare state that imploded in 2008. You may disagree, but let’s argue that out, rather than engaging in the Big Lie that what failed was laissez-faire and individualism.

The question is: in the messy mixture of government controls and remnants of capitalism, which element caused the Great Depression and the recent financial crisis?

By raising that question, we uncover the fundamental: the meaning of capitalism and the meaning of government controls. Capitalism means freedom. Government means force.

Suddenly, the whole issue comes into focus: Obama is saying that freedom leads to poverty and force leads to wealth. He’s saying: “Look, we tried leaving you free to live your own life, and that didn’t work. You have to be forced, you have to have your earnings seized by the state, you have to work under our directions–under penalty of fines or imprisonment. You don’t deserve to be free.”

As a bit of ugly irony, this is precisely what former white slave-owners said after the Civil War: “The black man can’t handle freedom; we have to force him for his own good.” The innovation of the Left is to extend that viewpoint to all races.

Putting the issue as force vs. freedom shows how the shoe is on the other foot regarding what Obama said. Let me re-write it:

there is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let’s respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. “The government will take care of everything,” they tell us. If we just pile on even more regulations and raise taxes–especially on the wealthy–our economy will grow stronger. Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers. But if the losers are protected by more social programs and a higher minimum wage, if there is more Quantitative Easing by the Fed, then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle up to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn’t trickle up, well, that’s the price of the social safety net.

Now, it’s a simple theory. And we have to admit, it’s one that speaks to our intellectuals’ collectivism and Paul Krugman’s skepticism about freedom. That’s in Harvard’s DNA. And that theory fits well on a bumper sticker. (Laughter.) But here’s the problem: It doesn’t work. It has never worked. (Applause.) It didn’t work when it was tried in the Soviet Union. It’s not what led to the incredible booms in India and China. And it didn’t work when Europe tried it during over the last decades. (Applause.) I mean, understand, it’s not as if we haven’t tried this statist theory.

How does that sound? That’s blaming an actual, existing condition–government controls and wealth-expropriation–not a condition that ended in the late 19th century.

So which is the path to prosperity and happiness–freedom or force? Remember that force is aimed at preventing you from acting on your rational judgment.

Obama’s real antagonist is Ayn Rand, who made the case that reason is man’s basic means of survival and coercion is anti-reason. Force initiated against free, innocent men is directed at stopping them from acting on their own thinking. It makes them, under threat of fines and imprisonment, act as the government demands rather than as they think their self-interest requires. That’s the whole point of threatening force: to make people act against their own judgment.

The radical, uncompromised, laissez-faire capitalism that Obama pretends was in place in 2008 is exactly what morality demands. Because, as Ayn Rand wrote in 1961: “No man has the right to initiate the use of physical force against others. . . . To claim the right to initiate the use of physical force against another man–the right to compel his agreement by the threat of physical destruction–is to evict oneself automatically from the realm of rights, of morality and of the intellect.”

Obama and his fellow statists have indeed evicted themselves from that realm.

Fake Snow? No, It Is Debunk

I have come to realize during my time on the ‘tubes’ that people are addicted to fear, they will fight you if you try to debunk or bring ease to some of these ‘out there’ conspiracy theories. They will call you a shill, they will tell you that you are ‘asleep’ they have to have this fear porn to hold onto, it makes their reality more ‘real’ or something. Many people are going around pointing fingers at others, calling them ‘sheep’ the whole time claiming that they are awake. I believe they are the ones that are sleeping, disconnected from rational thought and not applying critical thinking to problem solve, being objective to the information they are running across. In a sense they are still in a control system designed to let them believe they are awake but are still inside the matrix being controlled by fear, fighting for the machine. Suddenly Morpheus quote comes to mind. “The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you’re inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.” I looked into the snow not melting and burning very objectively, in fact I was waiting in line to get on that bus, it doesn’t seem to far out there with the NWO to do something like this. However in the end a few YouTubers put themselves out there, and I know the backlash on me hasn’t been a lot of “thank you’s” but a lot of hate instead. I’m not a chemist, I’m not suggesting to run out and eat the snow, I’m just suggesting it just might be ‘normal’ radiated snow, not plastic, it does melt and turn into water, butane burns, stay focused and open to other possibilities, or else we are allowing them to divide us even more. When you put heat on the snow it melts into itself, there is no water right then because the snow forms into an ice cube. I’m not saying we shouldn’t look into this stuff, we just need to use a little more discernment, be objective and most importantly use critical thinking to problem solve. I’m wondering now when did everyone become a scientist?
